For those of you who know what a Parrot Head is, you also know that there is no purer life than wasting away in margaritaville. However, if you want to look good in a swim suit while there, you really should look into your island drinks. A regular, on the rocks, margarita can have 150-200 calories! But never fear, there is a better option.
The Pura Vida Skinny (or Flaco) Rita uses fresh juice and agave nectar which cuts down on the calorie count! For more information about Pura Vida check out my original review post (which includes a Bloody Maria recipe).
- 2 oz. Pura Vida tequila
- 2 oz. lime juice
- 2 oz. orange juice
- 1/2 oz. agave nectar
- Combine tequila, juices and nectar in a shaker with ice and shake to chill.
- Pour into ice filled margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and an optional salted rim.
This skinny margarita would go great with a lighter fare Mexican dish for dinner. Sometimes Mexican meals can be heavy and full of calories. My Mexican Stuffed Peppers.
