KidCo makes many types of safety products for the house that include secure sticks, locks/latchers, furniture straps, appliance locks, door handle locks, window stoppers, electrical outlet covers, and much more. If you need to make sure you have everything in your house is considered safe, KidCo has it all by all their wonderful safety products.

They also have bath safety products.  I was sent the Bath Storage Basket and Bath Safety Rail to review.  We love the bath storage basket.

It it is adjustable so that you can make the length what you need and it should fit most tubs.  It is great to hold bath toys, soap, shampoo and more and the divider panels separate toys from bath care items or the “good” toys from the “bad” toys that are in time out when my daughter is playing.

The bath safety rail is made with a tall, ergonomic design and non-slip grips to help your child get in and out of tub safely.  It adjusts to fit most standard tubs with three mounting points for extra stability.  Unfortunately, it does not fit our tub (all three mounting points won’t “stick” at the same time) but we plan to remodel the bathrooms so hopefully it will fit on the new tub!

I know everyone has heard of baby-proofing a home, but have you ever had to dog-proof part of your home?  We have a wonderful chocolate lab, but he is always underfoot in the kitchen.  I have decided that I want to gate him out of the kitchen completely.  My darling smart 2 1/2 year old created a temporary gate for me out of her Sesame Street chairs but I still searched for a more permanent solution.

I was sent the pressure mount Pinnacle Gateway G180 gate by Kidco to review.  What makes this gate different from standard pressure mount gates is that it has a foot pedal operation and a locking indicator {green means the gate is open and ready for use; red means locked and secure}.

So how does this gate work?  According to Kidco:

“Step on the foot pedal. You will hear a click and the locking indicator will turn green. The door remains i position, unlocked and waits to be opened from either direction. Push open with knee and walk through. The magnets pull the door closed behind you, and you will again hear a click as it locks closed. The locking indicator will once again turn red, signifying the door is locked and secure.”

How did it work for us?  We had some issues with installing the gate initially.  We were sent the necessary extension kit so that it would fit in the opening we were going to use it in.  The directions were not crystal clear to us and we initially installed it wrong.  However, a quick email to Kidco with a picture of how we installed it cleared up the problems we had and we were able to get it installed properly.  Once installed, it worked as described.

Once the gate is opened the magnets work great pulling it back to lock.  They don’t pull too hard so that you worry about catching yourself in the gate, but they close it every time.  However, the magnets are very loud.  I asked Kidco about the sound and was told that the nature of the loud click is because it has to be ‘audible’ in order to meet ASTM standards.  This way the consumer knows the gate IS actually closed.
