Welcome to a new year of Trim Down Thursday – a Fitness hop I co-host with Bri from Eco Baby Mama Drama.
I normally don’t make “resolutions” because I never keep them and then I am disappointed. I went searching for last year’s Trim Down Thursday resolution post only to find that I never wrote one. Hey, if you don’t make them, you can’t break them, right?
Even though I am anti-resolution, I do find it helpful to set goals. I try to keep them simple. Sure, I would love to run a marathon, but let’s be honest here, that isn’t going to happen any time soon! Instead I am sticking with realistic goals that I really can follow through on.
~ Drink more Water: We all know the importance of water (I even posted about it here in a previous Trim Down Thursday) but I often forget to drink it throughout the day. This year I have already started keeping a water bottle with me at all times to make sure to remember to drink. I also keep sliced lemon on hand both at home and at work to add to the water. I find I drink a lot more if it has a little “flavor”.
~ Walk More: As I said, I would love to say that I will run a marathon (or even a 5K) but with a new baby on the way in February and a 2 1/2 year old, I am realistic. Our neighborhood has a great walking path and I now have this wonderful tandem stroller that will accommodate both kids. So no excuses, I will get out and walk more!
~ Go to Bed Earlier: This one is going to be a little harder for me. There is always something to be done, and I always seem to put it off until after my daughter goes to bed. I am working on ways to organize my day and my to-do list so that I am more efficient. Sleep is so important that I just need to get more of it!
~ Eat a Healthy Breakfast: This is one I am doing well with already. Being pregnant makes any goal that involves eating much easier. However, it is about more than just eating breakfast – the breakfast has to be healthy which for me meals high protein and no fast food!
So what are your fitness/health goals for 2013? If you have a post about them, link it in the comments and I will add a link to it in this post too!
Check out Bri’s goals over at Eco Baby Mama Drama.

Good luck with your goals! I’m trying to do more cooking this year, move more, and keep on drinking water–I got a great insulated water bottle a while back and having cold water at hand makes such a difference.

I have been on a fruit craze lately and have been snacking on fruits instead of crackers and such. It is hard to stay healthy all the time, but it is worth it. Good luck!

I would love to go to bed early but after the kids go to bed is mainly my time to blog or help my hubby with his blog

Great goals! I can’t eat breakfast… I just seem to be too busy running around here and by the time I know it – it’s almost lunch time! Oh and early bed is almost impossible. I find that once all the kids are in bed (and out of my hair) I want to stay up forever to get some peace! I totally need an extra 6 hours in each day haha.

Amanda,I used to have the same problem – going to bed at a decent hour. Now, I get up at 3:30 (before kids are awake!) and get almost everything done I need to do before they get up! Then by 10:00pm, I am SO ready to go to bed!

Great goals!! I, too, need to drink more water and walk more! It is so much easier to eat better when pregnant…hopefully those habits that have started while pregnant will continue for you! Good luck!

I really love your set of goals! I think that they are reachable, which is important. I definitely need to do all four of those myself, so thanks for the inspiration!
I definitely need to try harder and accomplish two of those. Going to bed earlier and walk more!
