Our Favorite Bottle | Dr. Brown’s Bottle Review

We love Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow bottles.

When Monkey Girl was an infant and breastfeeding stopped working for us we had a hard time finding the right bottle for her.  She had no problem taking the bottle but she would always get gassy after feedings.  We went through many different bottles.  Finally, my daycare provider suggested Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow bottles and WOW, what a difference they made.

What was the big difference?  No swallowing of air!1x1.trans Our Favorite Bottle | Dr. Browns Bottle Review

Dr. Brown’s bottle features a patented two-piece internal vent system that works unlike any other bottle design.  The vent system fully vents the bottle for vacuum-free feeding, which is similar to breastfeeding.  As the baby feeds, air is channeled from the nipple collar through the vent system, bypassing the breastmilk or formula, to the back of the bottle.

The Natural Flow Bottle was designed by a doctor in 1996 and patented in 1997, Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow is the only baby bottle to feature this internal vent system.  Dr. Brown’s patented system also:

  • helps preserve vitamins C, A, & E by minimizing oxidation of breastmilk and formula
  • helps reduce colic, spit-up, burping and gas by eliminating negative pressure and air bubbles.

Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow baby bottles are BPA-free and contain no PVC, lead or phthalates, and have received numerous design awards and acclaim from the medical community.

I have had many friends who have had similar issues to those we had.  Every time I recommend Dr. Brown’s and every time they have said they have made a huge difference in the ease of feeding and the comfort of their baby.  With Baby #2 we will definately be using Dr. Brown’s!

Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Bottles are also available in wide neck, bpa free plastic, and glass.

  1. I have seen quite a few people I know use these bottles, but I wasn’t sure what was so special about them or why they had that internal piece. Now that I know I gotta say that is pretty slick…. we have never had to use bottles…. well I tried a time or two just to make sure my girls would take them in case of an emergency, but other than that I just stuck with breastfeeding since I am a stay at home mom. But I will definitely share this information with friends that have chosen to use bottles and are having trouble with gassiness. Plus it’s great to know if I would ever find myself in the position of needing to use bottles. Thanks for the great info!

  2. Oh I forgot about these! I’ve tried every bottle out there and my little guy won’t take any of them… I need to give these a try. Thanks for the review, I appreciate it. I had no idea that these used an internal vent system, that is pretty cool.

  3. Knowing that there’s a bottle that keeps the baby from swallowing is air is great! I hated how horrible my kids felt when they would take a bottle. Their poor little tummy!

  4. With a new Grandbaby on the way, this would make a perfect gift.
