I can’t believe my baby girl turned two this summer! It was great to be able to celebrate with family and friends. For those of you who missed the posts, below are some pictures from her party. She is very into airplanes and trains so we went with that theme for her party. It was a lot of fun, but my “from scratch” ideas sure took more time than I thought they would.
It seems my friends and I all had kids at the same time, so as soon as one has a birthday, the others are to follow. One of her good friends had a Sesame Street birthday party that was absolutely adorable! Everything was Sesame Street themed and looked great, but again, I am sure it took a lot of time to get everything ready.
Another friend’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks. Last year his mom did a Brown Bear themed party that was a huge hit. She is so creative and made all the decorations and even a brown bear cake herself. I can only imagine what she will come up with for this year! Which reminds me ~ I have to find a present for the birthday boy. Good thing you can buy toys online. I never find the time to get to the store!
After putting so much time into Monkey Girl’s party this year I started thinking about our plans for birthday parties in the future. When I was a kid we only had big parties for the milestone birthdays (5, 13, 16…I may be missing a few) and all other birthdays were just celebrated with family. We still had cake and a celebration, but it wasn’t a big production.
I am thinking about doing what my parents did. Birthdays are about celebrating the child. I think it is fun to celebrate the milestones with a larger group of friends, but for the yearly celebrations, I think we will just stick with family.
How do you celebrate birthdays in your family?
