The first Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in the US in honor of friends by a Proclamation made by US Congress in 1935. Since then, World Friendship Day is being celebrated every year on the first Sunday in the month of August.
We wanted to take time to celebrate the friends in our life, but we knew one day wouldn’t be enough. So we decided to take this week, August 12-18th, to celebrate the friends in our life who mean so much to us!
Starting today thru Saturday, each day we’ll be sharing friends who have made an impact in our lives. We’d love for you to join us! Link up your Celebrating Friendship posts below!
My daughter, who I lovingly refer to as Monkey Girl on this blog, is my heart, my life, and my best friend.
To describe in words what she means to me, how she has touched my life, or why she is my best friend just doesn’t seem to do our relationship justice. We do everything together. We dance, sing, get “special treats” at Starbucks, and go out for girl’s lunches of sushi. I can’t believe how much fun we have together and she is only 2!! Her smile lights up her eyes and the room. Her laugh is pure and infectious. She is a poet, a mathematician, and a gymnast ~ depending on the day. I can’t wait to watch her grow into a wonderful toddler (I guess at 26 months she isn’t technically one yet). I am not ready to think beyond that yet. I know she will be an amazing girl, beautiful and intelligent teen, scholar, wife, and mother… but I am not ready to think of her being any more than my little girl and my best friend. Below are some of my favorite pictures of her growth!
