Dreaming of the Swiss Alps

It has been soooooo hot here this summer!  We have experienced week after week after week of 90-100 degree weather with no break in sight (the forecast for this weekend is 99 both days!).  My husband and I started searching Pinterest for dream getaways and he stumbled upon some Zermatt chalets that were just amazing!

Don’t know where Zermatt is?  Neither did I initially.  Through research I learned that it is an amazing tourist town in the Swiss Alps.  Cable cars and chair lifts carry skiers in the winter and hikers in the summer; the highest of them leads to the Klein Matterhorn which is a12,740 ft. high peak that offers spectacular views in all directions.

What my husband loved was that you can ski year round on Zermatt’s Theodul glacier!  Carve and relax together with national alpine ski teams from all over Europe, with the Matterhorn (yes it is more than just a ride at Disneyland) always in sight.  Yes, that is right, skiing and snowboarding the whole year round, with 365 days of snow – you can only find this in Zermatt!!  As the highest altitude, largest and most efficiently developed snow sport location in the Alps, Zermatt offers an absolute snow guarantee.

But Zermatt isn’t just about skiing.  In the summer you can also experience fly fishing, river rafting, and paragliding.  It may not be in the cards for this summer, but some day we are definitely going there!
