Monkey Girl loves to read! I read to her while she was in the womb (every night we read Green Eggs and Ham) and we have been reading to her ever since she was born. Monkey Girl is almost two, and before we know it she will be learning to read to us! Finding the perfect book can be difficult. There are so many out there!
Barney and Joan are grandparents of 5 and created Little One Books to help others make informed choices from among the vast amount of material available for children today. Little One Books specializes in quality books, music, and video, for children birth through age five. What I really appreciate is that they don’t just sell any old book on their website. They have personally reviewed and selected each and every item in their store and they provide detailed information on why they prefer a particular product through their “Why We Chose” section of each product page.
One of my favorite features of Little One Books is that they categorize their products by age so that you make sure to get age appropriate items. They match each product to what they believe is the youngest appropriate age group. However, their carefully selected items can and will be used for many years to come. As children develop they often find pleasure in revisiting illustrations from old favorites, and eventually learning to read them on their own.
We were sent the I Love Food gift bundle to review. I love their gift bundles because they combine a book, video, and CD that work well together. This bundle contains a book, DVD, and CD that teach little ones about fruits and vegetables and how to make them fun and delicious. Recently Monkey Girl has become very interested in cooking. Any time I am in the kitchen she wants to be sitting on the counter and helps out where she can. I knew this was the perfect bundle for her.
Food For Thought uses creative food art to teach youngsters the names of different healthy foods, as well as shapes, colors, numbers, letters, animals, and opposites. The images in this book are so cool! It introduces her to many different foods in such a creative way.
The DVD Braincandy: Taste My World, shows real toddlers taste testing different healthy and fun foods – what better way to get your little one feeling adventurous enough to try something new? Monkey Girl loves her “taste movie” as she calls it. It never fails that she will ask to eat one of the items from the movie for snack .
The Paw Paw Patch features many different instruments, folk tunes, and the voices of acclaimed folk singer Phil Rosenthal and his daughter, all of which will help you and your little one work up an appetite while singing and dancing along. We especially enjoy that the CD includes the song Polly Wolly Doodle. My little sister’s first dance recital was to that song.
