Food to Warm the Heart

This week has been an emotional roller coaster!  On Monday a local 20 year old man was killed in a motorcycle accident.  When I picked up my daughter from daycare I realized that this accident was much closer to home than I thought.  My daycare provider is the President of a local daycare provider association, and the mother of the motorcycle driver is the Vice President.  When I picked up our daughter from daycare on Monday our provider was searching for help for the mother, including people to bring food to the family.  I jumped on the opportunity.

When I went to the store this morning to shop for the necessary items, I realized I could help out another family.   It was hard for me to digest emotionally, but as one life was taken from us too soon, another beautiful life was brought into this world.  My good friend had a baby girl, and I was so excited to meet her!  I know when I first came home from the hospital, I thought I could do everything myself, but I really could use help.  Having someone make dinner was such a blessing.

In my opinion, homemade lasagna is one of the best heart warming meals.  This week our community celebrated a new life and mourned the loss of one taken from us too soon.  You can find details about my shopping trip for the lasagna ingredients by checking out our entire trip in photos at my Google+ album.

I know there is nothing I can do that will ever repair the hole in the motorcyclists’ family’s heart, or help the parents of a newborn get more sleep, but I hope my meal has helped warm their hearts.

Such a blessing for this family I am sure! It warms my heart to know people are still doing random acts of kindness <3

  2. Sarah Jane

I did not have to cook for four weeks after my daughter’s birth because the church my husband, daughter, and I go to provides meals for families that have a new baby. They gave use homemade meals for about two weeks, and my MIL and FIL came down and helped out, especially with cooking.

  3. So great that you thought of these families and did what you could to help. Lasagna is a wonderful meal to share.
