We were so excited at the office when the SodaStream I was sent to review arrived. I decided to keep it at the office rather than home for a few reasons. 1) Hubs says I already have too many kitchen gadgets and not enough space to store them, 2) I was worried we would just be drinking a ton of soda if we had it at home (normally once we get home from work, we don’t drink soda), and 3) it is a fun “amenity” to offer to clients.
What I thought was super cool was that the instruction booklet was printed primarily in German (there of course are very informative pictures, and there are instructions in English). Why did I find this so cool? Our paralegal is German. I was so excited about this “new product” but she said they have been around Germany for at least 5 years. Apparently the cost of soda in Germany is so high that average people can’t afford to buy it on a daily basis. Having the SodaStream available made it so that average people could have soda.
SodaStream is a product that can be purchased at many local retailers like Target, Costco, Staples and more! The device takes regular tap water and turns it into soda in less than thirty seconds. With the SodaStream you can make your own at home for way less than the retail price of soda.

Not only are you saving on the dollar. You will reuse the bottles that you make the soda in. Rewash the bottle, fill it with water, cool it in the fridge, then make soda or product of choice again and again without creating the plastic waste! This is another nice thing about the SodaStream product as it’s more environmentally friendly than other products that you can not make at home. I would recommend purchasing a few extra of the 1 L bottles so that you can have multiple flavors on hand.
I was worried that the products would not taste the same as other soda products that I’m used to buying directly off the shelf. I was completely shocked at the great taste. We have offered several of the different flavors to clients now and they could not tell the difference between the SodaSteam Cola, Diet Cola, and Energy. These brands are so much like the name brands (Energy is compared to Red Bull, Cola like Coca-Cola, Dr. Pete to Dr. Pepper, etc) that you can’t even tell the difference. It is so fun to show them afterwards how we made the soda!

Spot on review! My family has been using the SodaStream for about a year and haven’t looked back. In addition to the regular flavors we find that making our own flavors with natural ingredients like loose leaf tea and honey tend to give you nice flavor combinations along with the sparkling water of course.
